Intermodal 2013

From the President Curaçao Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Willem "Billy" Jonckheer
President Curaçao Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Willemstad, Curaçao, April 2013

Curaçao is an interconnected dot in the global arena. As a close neighbor to Brazil, Curacao is the ideal jurisdiction to function as your gateway to and from the rest of the world. Our experienced and high value international financial services and logistics sector, our highly skilled workforce, our ideal geographical location, our connection to Europe and our stable political situation make us the ideal financial and logistical hub for your business.

Curaçao is gearing up to become within short the -connecting markets- logistical solution. In the changing global economic landscape, where trade agenda's and freight logistics are converging, Curaçao is, besides long standing freight logistics experience, the right jurisdiction for integrated solutions for the facilitation of international trade.
A well developed banking system, a history as a safe legal jurisdiction, world class international financial services, political stability, rule of law, and and a judicial system wherein the ultimate recourse rests with the ability to appeal to the Supreme Court of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in The Hague.

Curaçao was once a haven for international trade throughout the history of the Caribbean; the island's location makes it a perfect air-and-sea hub for the Latin American and Caribbean markets, which has a combined population of more than 460 million people. Globalization today puts Curaçao once again in a position to be a major trading center for most products destined for the South, Central and Caribbean markets.
Upon application of the common import tariff of the EU single market, Curaçao can freely export products into the EU which, without additional processing. Products originating in Curaçao, or which have undergone "substantial transformation", have access to the EU free of duties or equivalent levies.

Furthermore, Curaçao is also able to take advantage of a favored relationship with the United States market. The Caribbean Basin Initiative (II), allows most local exports to enter the United States duty free.
It will be our pleasure to talk to you and explain further how we can facilitate your business. Visit us at Booth C-360
